Getting Ready for Your Appointment
Most importantly, get ready to enjoy the process of choosing appliances and finishing touches that reflect your personal style—all while staying within budget. Shortly after you sign your sales agreement, our designer will reach out to schedule your first design appointment.
Appointments
At Embridge Fine Homes, we believe in making your design experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Typically, this journey involves two key appointments: the first, where you'll explore and make your initial selections, and the second, where you'll finalize and perfect your choices. To ensure you feel confident every step of the way, our expert designer will reach out to you prior to your first appointment. They’ll guide you through the selection process, offer valuable insights, and be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Your vision is our priority, and we’re here to make sure every detail aligns perfectly with your dream home.
Because your appointment will last between 2 to 4 hours, and we want you to get the most out of your time with your designer, we recommend making arrangements for your little ones. A distraction-free environment allows you to focus on important design decisions and ensures a smoother, more productive experience.
Design Tip
Many homebuyer’s find it beneficial to revisit the model home before their final appointment. Walking through the space again can serve as a helpful reminder of features, finishes, or design elements that may have been forgotten or overlooked during earlier visits. It also provides a valuable opportunity to confirm choices, take notes or measurements, and gain a clearer vision of how your own home will come together. Even small details—like cabinet hardware, lighting layouts, or trim work—can make a big difference in your final decisions. Taking the time for one last look can help you feel more confident and prepared for your final meeting.
Your First Appointment
Knowing your total budget before making selections can make the decision process much easier. It helps you prioritize which features matter most and where you’d prefer to invest. For example, if you love to cook, you might choose to spend more on premium kitchen appliances and scale back in other areas. On the other hand, if outdoor living is your priority, you might opt for a larger deck or an outdoor fireplace and allocate less to interior upgrades. Having a clear budget allows you to make thoughtful choices that reflect your lifestyle and preferences.
DESIGN TIP: Be honest with yourself about what you can afford so your designer can direct you toward things that you’ll love that are still within your budget.
Exploring Pinterest is a fun and creative way to discover photos that reflect and inspire your personal design style. You can also gather ideas by watching HGTV or other home design shows, or even by bringing in pictures of your current home. These visuals help bring your vision to life and serve as a great starting point for your design appointment.
DESIGN TIP: Enjoy the process! Save images of your favorite kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, or any other spaces that speak to your style. While the Embridge Studio may not offer the exact products you see online or on social media, our expert Designer is there to guide you toward similar, on-trend options from our carefully selected offerings. Sharing your inspiration photos during your appointment will make it easier to create the look and feel you’re dreaming of.
The way you live in your home should influence many of your design choices. For example, if you have young children who frequently run in and out of the backyard, it’s a smart idea to choose durable flooring near your patio doors. If you or a family member suffers from seasonal allergies, you might opt to avoid carpeting altogether or limit it to certain low-traffic areas. By considering your lifestyle and daily routines, you can make selections that not only look great but also support comfort, convenience, and long-term functionality.
Design Tip: Here are some great questions to help the process.
- What are my favorite features of my current home?
- What aspects of my current home would I like to improve or change?
- Which areas of my home would benefit from durable, low-maintenance options (such as flooring, countertops, and more)?
- How do I currently use my kitchen—am I a passionate home chef or more of a takeout enthusiast?
Take time to familiarize yourself with your model and floorplan—it will help you make more intentional design decisions. For example, if your home includes a flex room, think about how you plan to use it. If it serves as a home office, that may influence your choices for lighting, flooring, and tech features. If your home has a loft, consider whether your family prefers to keep the entertainment space near the kitchen in the great room, or if you'd rather move TV pre-wiring to the loft for a more private media area. Thinking through how you'll use each space will ensure your home fits your lifestyle from day one.
